Having kindly being helped by the team to clear all viruses this morning. I am getting a pop up in the bottom right hand corner of my laptop saying I can safely remove hardware 'Broadcom NetXream Gigabit Ethernet' but I think this came up before I had problems. Does anyone know what this is? Is it safe to remove or do I need it? Any answer gratefully recieved but please don't get too technical with any answers as I am the village idiot, AND I COME FROM A LARGE VILLAGE!! :p

Go into Device Manager Mark and tell us if there are any yellow question marks there.

Hi Mark,

The Safely Remove Hardware notice for your Ethernet adapter is ok.

It can be used to switch off your ethernet adapter to save power.

Don't worry about it, you don't need to click on it, just leave it be.

:)

Are you sure it says nothing to the left of Unknown Device Mark?

It has a yellow ? mark marked other device with a + to the left of it.

When you click the + it drops down to two further yellow ? beneath it both saying unknown device. It says nothing else. I have also just noticed that the 'safe to remove' pops up when my power lead is moved and not giving full power. I have just experimented by pulling the power lead out and when I do it pops up. As Tootech says it must be power related. But now the yellow ?'s will bug me! I am off out now but will look in this evening. Thanks, I will have a pint for you!!
