Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Ingo.

First I recommend a system restore to take your computer back to before the update. see if that cures the problem first. If not we can take it from there. System restore is found by- Click "Start", all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. look for a restore point dated before the update was installed.

Let us know how you get on.

Can you tell us why it doesn't or what error messages you get Steadycam please.

Can you have a look in Device Manager and let us know if your DVD drive is listed with a yellow question mark or exclamation mark against it, and if there are any error messages against it.

Have a look here for instructions on how to get to Device Manager

Open Device Manager - Windows Vista Help

This is a Device Manager screenshot, on your machine it will probably be a DVD drive, with an error message next to it.

I would uninstall Firefox and reinstall it to attempt to repair any problems.

♦Hi again

Yes there is a yellow question mark.

It shows me this:

Windows cannot load the controller of device for this hardware. It is possible that the controller is damaged or is not. (Code 39)

Click in " Looking for solutions " to send information about this device to Microsoft and to consult if there is some available solution.

How can I do this???

I´ll uninstall Firefox and reinstall but the problem is still the same . . . strange ? ? ?

For those of you who feel uncomfortable editing the registry manually, download the attached archive and extract it. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. After you have extracted the archive, you should obtain a file labeled Fix CD Drive.reg. Double-click on the file and you will be asked whether you want to import the information into the registry or not. Answer Yes to the prompt and sometime later another dialog box will pop up informing you that the operation was successful. After you have done the above, reboot your computer. You should now be able to access and use your CD drive.

Note: Using the above registry fix might cause some programs to dysfunction or work incorrectly. In that case, please reinstall the affected programs to resolve their respective errors.

Hi guys,

Ive got a very similar problem wit my CD-Drive, so I was searching for solutions on google and found this thread.

Ive got the same CD/DVD drive and in the device manager it's got a little yellow exclamation mark on it. in the description it says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)".

When i put a cd or dvd in it starts spnning and you can hear the drive working but then it just stops. the drive also doesnt show up in "Computer".

I really hope you can help me, cos i Have absolutely no clue what to do!

Thanks!

Hello Anjomo and Welocme

Since this is your first post I am going to suggest that you start a new thread and give all the details of your problem that you can think of.

This is the 20th post on a thread that has already been solved. The fact that your problem is similar is really not a reason to continue here.

I think you will find that you will receive better and faster results if you do as I say.

Thanks! :)
