Guest somae Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 We've got an hp pavilion 8775c computer that was in the trash. It was full of viruses, so I erased the harddrive (windows me). I installed win98 on it. I then purchased the recovery cds. The computer doesn't have the original sound card (I added a new one) and I added extra memory. The recovery cds (which install windows me) is not recognizing the computer although these cds are for this model. (The mainboard is the original one.) The computer has a sticker for windows me on it with the software key. I'm looking for a copy of an installation disk for windows me (upgrade or new) that I can use to reinstall windows me - or any suggestions on how to get these recovery cds to function. (They're original recovery cds from hp). Thanks for any help.

Guest Joan Archer Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Re: need installation disk But you aren't installing to the original model machine, you said it doesn't have the original sound card and you added more memory so as far as those recovery CD's are concerned you are trying to install to a different machine. Perhaps going back to the original sound card and taking out the added memory for now may help. Those are my thoughts on the matter so lets see if one of the experts can give you the help you need to get the machine working again.
