Guest DD Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 By default, will the client pc (xp, windows 2000 )synchorize the pc time with Domain controller ?
Guest neo [mvp outlook] Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Re: pc and DC time synchorization Yes. (The instant it is joined, it switches from NTP to NT5DS time sync.) Guest Robert L \(MS-MVP\) Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Re: pc and DC time synchorization Yes, the Windows Time service is installed by default on all computers running Windows 2000/XP and the Windows Time service automatically synchronizes a local computer's time with DC. When the computers are part of a workgroup, you must manually configure the time synchronization settings -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "DD" <DD@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EFFA8475-8DFA-4B87-818D-5C8A5C7C6075@microsoft.com... > By default, will the client pc (xp, windows 2000 )synchorize the pc time > with > Domain controller ? > > >
Guest DD Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Re: pc and DC time synchorization so, the client pc time will adjust according to DC time ? under what circumstance the client pc not sync with DC ? Guest Robert L \(MS-MVP\) Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Re: pc and DC time synchorization Make sure 'Type' In the right panel of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters iss Nt5DS which is default and will synchronize to domain hierarchy. Or this troubleshooting may help. Yes. It is necessary for it to have its time set close to what the DC is set to in order for a user to log on. You'll typically have one server set as authoritative and it will sync with an Internet time source. After that, other servers and machines in your domain would sync with that server's time. Of course, this is a very much simplified explanation. -- Jack Doyle, Systems Engineer ScriptLogic Corporation http://www.scriptlogic.com
