I seem to be making more threads than I can keep up with :P

I have only just noticed but with my new speakers I bought for this PC, Logitech X-530 5.1

I get an occasional "POP" or "crack" emitting from them, it could be when music is playing or even if theyre silent, just a random pop or crack, any idea why? they are set up correctly and plugged in securely.

Have you tried plugging them into a HiFi or portable cd player Polo to see if you get the same problems?

no :P as they plug into my pc with 3 wires, the front speakers, sub woofer and rear speakers, and I dont have anything else that takes 3 or an adaptor to make it into one, and it happens so occasionally that i couldnt test each set individually because its such a random occurrence :(

You want to plug just the green one (front audio) into another device and see if it still occurs.

static is not uncommon - try turning the volume on the speakers up and the windows volume down, if it still persists try the other way around :)

Also check that they are in 5.1 mode within windows

Also, odd clicks and pops can sometimes come from some software running in the background. Quite often things that search for updates or just general connection issues. One well known source of noise interference can be MSN or Windows live Messenger. When working with sound, I always turn messenger off.

Okay, thanks alot for all the help :P It doesnt make any noise when I connect my front speakers to my MP4 player and leave that running for a few hours but as soon as its back in my PC it continues, so I'm guessing it's as nev says with the programs as I always have MSN on :P

Just a final thing, just in case it is a grotty connection somewhere in the whole rig, it wouldn't hurt to power off, protect against static, then remove and replace all plugs, sound cards, etc. do one at a time, then you know where it goes back to. Hopefully it will wipe any oxide off the contacts and restore things back to quietness.

Just to let you guys know, It seems that this is a common problem with the speakers that I have got and logitech will happily take them back and replace them upon proof of purchase :P
