Roaming Profile Take Ownership problem

Hi all,

We have roaming profiles stored on a 2003 server, the group policy to

automatically create profiles with Administrator Full Control is NOT set.

I needed to delete some files from a user's profile, so I went into the

folder and took ownership so I could see the folder and added my permissions

full control. I then deleted the files I needed to, and gave ownership back

to the user, set their permissions to full control, and finally removed my

permissions from the folder...

Everything appeared to be back to normal, however the user is getting an

access denied error when they attempt to login...

The only way I have been able to get around this is to readd all my

permissions and leave them there? Why is simply putting everything back not

working?

Hello,

You can also use this GPO:

Administrative Templates\

System\

User Profiles

Do not check for user ownership of Roaming Profile Folders

Re: Roaming Profile Take Ownership problem

Thanks for the reply but it does not answer my question it simply gets around

it which is not what I am looking for...

Is there a specific step I am missing in putting the original permissions

back?
