Guest PaulC Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Each time I try to open Google Earth after I download it, it just hangs. Sometimes if I wait long enough (more than 5 minutes) the program will open. Once it hangs I often have to do a forced shutdown since Task Manager won't come up for me to exit Google Earth. Can someone tell me what's wrong with this install. I've installed Earth several times to no avail (after uninstalling Earth each time). The last time I turned off my CA firewall before I downloaded the file.

Are you running it as an administrator or user? Is your problem installing Google Earth or Running Google Earth? Guest PaulC Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Re: Google Earth 2007 and Vista - Bad Install Hi NeilH. I'm runnind Vista Home Premium. I have 2 GB of memory and my Acer desktop is 5 months old. I don't know if the install is corrupted or if there's some system conflict. I can download/install Earth but when I try to open it the image of the globe starts moving and then everything freezes and I get a message that Google Earth is not responding. Guest PaulC Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Re: Google Earth 2007 and Vista - Bad Install NeilH, I'm running Vista Home premium on my 5 month old Acer desktop with 2 GB of RAM and a 64X2 processor. I don't know if it's the install or a system issue. I can download/install and run Earth but as it tries to open it freezes (the earth image starts rotating and then stops). Sometimes if I wait long enough it finally starts running, but the next time I open it up again it freezes all over again. I'm opening Earth up either normally or as an administrator. Neither way works. Guest PaulC Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Re: Google Earth 2007 and Vista - Bad Install Haven't heard back from you NeilH. I sent the information you requested on 10/17/07. Any idea why I can't open up Google Earth with my Vista Home premium desktop? I updated the nVidia drivers with the latest ones thro windows update and also updated the directx to latest version. Now I don't see any hang when I start google earth. Note: run google earth using directx, the other option available is using openGL.
