mickhail Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 When Windows XP tries to load, I get the following message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." My options are: Start in safe mode. Safe mode with networking. Safe mode with command prompt. Last known good configuration setting (most recent setting that worked). Start Windows normally. Use the up and down arrows to highlight your choice seconds still windows starts: 30 Whenever i start safe mode, a lot of messages flash up on the screen and then the microsoft windows xp symbol appears as if its ready to start up but my computer enters sleep mode and again i get the same message: "We apologize for the incovenience.......". and when i press, last known good configuration setiing or start windows normally. The microsoft windows xp symbol appears again as thought its ready to start up but it just goes back in cycles to the same message. i can press delete to enter setup/qflash to get into cmos setup utility a blue screen appears with a lot of different items i can enter into, but i dont know where to go. My windows xp home edition was installed by a manufactuer called iqon (which does no longer exist!) so i dont have any discs what so ever, but i do have the product key. any help would be great. mickhail Quote
Tootech Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 There are a few ways around this. Iqon had a built in system called Recovery Angel, and I've used it once or twice. Question is, do you have data on the computer you wish to retrieve e.g. photo's, documents, videos. If so, it's be worth doing some more work on your drive, if not, when your PC starts, press F10 continually until the recovery process begins. Link here details the process/ iQon Technologies :: The Smarter Choice destructive I seem to remember that the Recovery Angel saves your docs and puts them in a folder on the desktop when your pc is recovered. mickhail Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 hi tootech, i done as you said and i battered at the f10 button but nothing appeared it just kept going back to the same message "We apologize for the incovenience.......". too be honest i wont be to dissapointed if i lose files as it was mainly only music anyway, if i could get it back to the factory settings i will be pleased. mickhail Quote
mickhail Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 when i click the safe mode option, a black screen appears on screen with white writing, it goes through many different things but it stops on: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\Drivers\Mup.sys Quote
Goku Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hello Michael. I searched for your problem a bit and seems most people have resolved it by replacing the PSU (Power Supply Unit). There are many other possible solutions that you might want to try so here is a list of the most famous ones. Try them one by one and see if they help or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku Quote
