Friends..

Have a problem right here with my office, let me explain I have Office 2007 at my work place and office 2003 at my home. And this is the root of problem.. Office 2007 extension is not compatible with office 2003. And i cant afford to purchase 2007 at this point of time for my home desktop.

Is there any short of patch for free which can solve my messed up compatibility issue

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Rosaline. :)

Is there any short of patch for free which can solve my messed up compatibility issue

You are precisely there. Microsoft has released compatibility pack for Office 2003 and lower versions which can convert *.xslx files to *.xls. The pack can be downloaded from here.

Alternately, you can use an online converter like Zamzar to convert the files if you want to convert the files occasionally / rarely.

Hope that helps. :)

Alternatively, you could download this free office suite and use that instead. Although I don't use it, they do state it is compatible with all versions of Microsoft Office.
