Guest John Glueck Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 We are adding new XP Pro computers to Windows 2003 Standard, already there are 20 XP Pro computers using domain 'server.local'. The new computers are getting the message "Format of the specific domain invalid" when attempting to join the domain. There are no Winwods 2003 license issues with adding new computers. All the other computers added have no problems. There were 15 old XP Pro computers replaced with newer computers; Ghosts was used to copy the hard drives - they went on uneventfully. We have eOpen license for XP Pro, the first 15 had no problems now we have hit the wall. Thanks.
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Re: Format of the specific domain invalid Hello John, Did you check that ip settings are correct only for your internal domain, no external DNS for example? Also run the latest SP and patches and latest NIC drivers. Only another question, do you run sysprep on the machines after installing the ghost image?
