Guest WonderBoy Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Hi all I'm currently looking for information on why you wouldn't want to use hibernation for shutting down a server. I have my own opinions and I'm wondering if Microsoft has any input as to why or why not you should do this on a server. I have looked on goggle and so far I don't see any blaring issues with doing hibernation. any comments or links to information would be greatly appreciated. Jason Hammond

Hello WonderBoy, For what reason will you hibernate a server? It is built to run, or you shut it down for maintenance reasons. Microsoft best practices.. any issues ag By design, servers are meant to be kept up 24/7. In no way are they ever meant to not be available. The only reason servers are supposed to be shut down is for maintenance purposes or for retirement.
