NO SPEAKERS?! HELP!!!

i just re-booted my vaio vgc-m1. the speakrs are not working, and if i go onto conrol panel and try to adjust the volume, its gray and i cannot change anything. HELP!!!!!

What, if any, hardware changes have you made lately?

Hi, i had a simular problem after a re-format of a friends pc. That is-no sound and the sound and audio system was 'grayed out'. The punch line was the sound driver was missing for what ever reason.

I was able to find the sound driver via the internet, then downloaded and installed.

Works fine now and no problems.

I must add that i got a lot of help from this site.

 

PS Have you looked under device manager for any highlighted systems like sound. You may be able to reinstall from there.

I had also the same problem , i just uninstalled the sound driver and then reinstalled the driver and after restarting the computer it was working fine.

Hi again, if it is the sound drivers that you have lost then you should be able to obtain them through

the sony support web site-

I have just checked and you can download all your drivers from here for your sony vaio vgcm1-or so it says.

While it would seem that the member has not returned and may have sorted his problem it may be wise to look for basics before jumping to conclusions about such things as drivers.

 

In this case it may be a better first move to simply check and make sure that the sound device is actually listed as the default.
