Hi all, I'm new here, a friend from another forum suggested I join :D

wondering if anyone can help, I recently had my computer fixed and it was all 'done up' - hoping it would cure everything that was going wrong with the damn thing!

Unfortunately a couple of months later, and now my screen starts wobbling everywhere... and nearly all the time, my screen is PINK? it's getting very annoying, and hurts my eyes :( anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Tracy.

Hi Rose

Welcome to FPCH

Can I just ask if you are using a CRT Monitor, they are the big heavy bulky type monitors as against the new sexy TFT monitors?

I will also shift this to the Hardware forum once you have answered.

Hiya, thanks for replying! I'm not sure what the CRT or TFT means, LOL but it's a thin flat monitor? lol.

Just for future reference this is a CRT monitor.

What you describe should not happen in a TFT monitor has anyone been messing around with the contrast or colour controls on it that you know of?

Mine isn't like that picture? Mine's completely flat at the back. Don't know if that helps.

No one has been messing with it as far as I know, it's in my bedroom and I'm the only person that uses it!

Ok tell us what happened to cause you to have your PC fixed and what was done to it.

We need to break this down Tracy so we can ascertain just exactly what the problem was and where we can help you.

As an addendum this sounds like the monitors knackered love, but please tell us what happened.

Knowing my luck with PC's it probably is.

I first got it seen to because when I turned my computer on, when the start up items starting loading, it would get so far... and then everything would crash, and I couldn't do anything at all with it. I can't quite remember what he did to it, but I was on Windows Mel, and I had it upgraded to XP. Once that was done.... everything worked again...

I mentioned the flashing colours and changing of colours to the screen to the computer man but he said that it should be sorted when he'd updated it.

And to be honest, it was fine! I couldn't complain at all, untill now... it's started with the colour changing again. I keep all my virus programmes updated and do regular check ups, it all seems fine.. apart from this one thing:confused:

So basically you've had this monitor and the monitor problem since ME yes?

Just how old is your PC and did you get the PC and monitor at the same time?

Posted

Yes, the problem's been there for awhile, just on and off.

The tower is years old, just keep having it upgraded and having it fixed up when something goes wrong with it. I keep saying I'm going to get a new one and never do

My old moniter (it was like the one in that picture you linked) was completely knackered and my OH gave me this new monitor from his PC as he now has a lap top and didn't need it. It's not that old, but I didn't get them both together.

It may well be that the old box graphics just can't hack it any more Tracy.

Have you tried hooking the monitor to a mates pc at all to see if it works ok on that?

All my mates have laptops! I'm behind on the times it seems lol.

Thanks for all the help you've given and advice, it's really appreciated. I'm going to look into getting a completely new PC, and not having it upgraded all the time. :D
