Guest Heirloom Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Re: how to find the mobo spec John John, Wouldn't SiSoft Sandra or Belarc provide the needed info???.....and, wouldn't the Me OS be the operational limiting factor for the ram? I seem to recall something about that, could be wrong, probably am. Guest glee Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Re: how to find the mobo spec Download, install, and run EVEREST Free Edition: http://www.majorgeeks.com/EVEREST_Free_Edition_d4181.html In the Computer> Summary and the Motherboard> Motherboard sections, it should identify your motherboard. After that you can google your board for details of its RAM capacity. Also, you can go to the Crucial or Kingston web sites and look up your motherboard on their memory configurators. They will show you the exact modules that are compatible, in various sizes, along with the total amount you can use in the system. Crucial also has an ActiveX control that will let you scan your system and tell you what RAM you can install, and in what amounts. http://www.crucial.com http://www.kingston.com -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "hillary" <hillary@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:16ED8F7A-51F4-4E3C-BCD1-6E786F7E6342@microsoft.com... > This pc have the mobo with M266A written on the board. The VIA chipset involved is P4M266A so several makers boards are likely called M266A but it's probably a 2.4 or 2.6 GHz board.
