Guest Rocky Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hi, I've set up a new domain with server 2003 R2 SP2 as the domain controllers. Users home share path is in the format \\servername\users$\usershomefolder which is set to map to drive k: in the user's account properties. Randomly the K drive isn't mapped correctly. Instead K points to \\servername\users$ even though every setting is correct. If I log off and back on, the user's home drive is then correctly mapped to K: at \\servername\users$\usershomefolder. Does anyone know why this occurs ? John
Guest Mick Montalto Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 RE: Home drive not always mapped correctly While I do not have an answer to your issue, I can say that I have the exact same issue with my domain and I have read that this is a known issue in the Microsoft Windows 2000 & 2003 domain enviornment and that there is apparrently no known fix for it. The only "solution" is to create a script or batch file that maps the users directory for them outside of AD such as: net use K:\ \\servername\share\%userfolder% There IS a few articles posted about this but I do not have the link any longer. My appologies on giving you this bad news but it is all the information I have in regards to this subject. Also make sure the users have at least "list" permissions on the root users$ folder (NTFS security).
