can I network and older server with a new sysrem

We just bought 2 huge ( well I thin they are huge) servers with W2k3 +

Terminal Services and a Server with SBS 2003 and Exchange 2003.

Question,

Can our outdated older Server, with W2k3 and 5 licenses be networked with

the new domain, and turned into a usable workstation. Or must it be

reprogrammed with something like XP Pro?

Is there ting we can do with the old 5 W2K3 licenses onboard, or do they

just sit there?

We'd like to make it just a networked workstation..

Thanks..in advance.

Mark

I assume that the licences you have are CALs. They allow up

to x workstations to make a connection to shares that exist

on this old server. Since you intend to use it as a workstation,

they become irrelevant.

I doubt that you can deploy the CALs on a different server.

Why not give MS a ring and ask them?

Re: can I network and older server with a new sysrem

Yes Pegasus,

It's an outdated (soon to be ) Dell SC420 with 5 W2K3 Cals on it.

Until we find further use for it, we would like to add as a workstation with

the new LAN that the I.T. guys are setting up. I was just curious if it would

join, that way.

Thanks..
