anntodd Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Eventhough I tick the remember me boxes the programs do not automatically fill in the box and I have to login everytime I enter the site. Could it be something on my antivirus? I have telewest pc guard. The problem only started a week ago Many Thanks Ann Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 You have probably set your particular browser to dump cookies after every session Ann. What browser are you using? Quote
RandyL Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 The first thing I would look at is your AutoComplete settings. Go to Internet Options in the Control Panel and click on the Content tab. In the AutoComplete section click on the Settings button. If I'm not mistaken User names and passwords on forms needs to be checked. Make sure you click OK and Apply if needed then OK again. anntodd Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 I have done as you requested and I think everything is ok at the moment If I have anymore probs I will contact you again many many thanks Ann Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Also don't bother logging out Ann, just shut the site off when leaving. Quote
RandyL Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Wolfeymole brings up a good point. If you log out that will delete the cookie that is storing the AutoComplete information. anntodd Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Sorry it has not worked and I do not log out when leaving a site. H E L P Ann Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) Try looking here: AutoComplete Does Not Save Username and Password By the way, FPCH clears all cookies when you log out but that is not true of all sites that require a log in. BeeCeeBee Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I mean no disrespect Ann and perhaps you have seen that link before but it seems like there was an awful lot to absorb and try in the few minutes that intervened. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Ann Please download Firefox from this link. Install it and import settings from IE and we can take it from there. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/web-browsers/1058-firefox-latest-versions.html Quote
anntodd Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 dont want firefox and nothing else is working Could the problem be in pc guard security? Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I notice that PC Guard has something called Privacy Guard or something similar. You can try disabling it and seeing if that works. PC guard from Virgin is not particularly well regarded. You may want to look at this after you are sorted. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/malware-removal-av-firewalls-etc/3597-free-pc-help-recommended-security-products.html Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 PC Guard is CRAP, get shut of it immediately. Don't believe me? Read this. Forums - pcguard - PC Advisor Quote
anntodd Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Thank you for all your help. I have solved the problem with autocomplete. It was in pc guard privacy. I am now going to uninstall pcguard and install Avast and Comodo. Once again many thanks Ann Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Good Choice Anne, glad it is all sorted for you. You will be far better served. You may also want to consider adding at least one of the antimalware programs. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
anntodd Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 I have installed avira antivir I also have adaware do I need anything else? Thanks Ann Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Yep. Dump the adaware and add the first two spyware/malware listed in the link above in post 14. After that you should be pretty well protected. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
