Guest gspotts Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I have three servers in a replication group 1 windows 2003 R2 & 2 windows 2003 sp2. When a file is changed on thr R2 server it replicates immediately. When I change a file on the primary sp2 server it takes ages (up to 6 hours) to replicate. I have set the replication priority between these two servers to high but it has made no difference. I have also tried stoping & restaring the file replication service on each server. This has an initial effect then it reverts to 'normal'. It should be noted that the two servers in question are networked on a domain via a VPN. Any suggestions would be welcomed

You can't be using DFSR that comes with R2, which is far better than DFS, because all servers in the replication group need to be R2 to use DFSR. I would suggest upgrading the other 2 servers to R2 and using DFSR. Put in the second disk of the R2 set and run setup2. hth DDS "gspotts" <gspotts@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6B16CEB6-5C14-4576-9579-6053B5A70229@microsoft.com... >I have three servers in a replication group 1 windows 2003 R2 & 2 windows > 2003 sp2. Guest gspotts Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Re: Slow File Replication Thanks That sounds like a good solution. I will let you know if it worked "Danny Sanders" wrote: > >I have three servers in a replication group 1 windows 2003 R2 & 2 windows > > 2003 sp2. > > You can't be using DFSR that comes with R2, which is far better than DFS, > because all servers in the replication group need to be R2 to use DFSR. > I would suggest upgrading the other 2 servers to R2 and using DFSR. > > Put in the second disk of the R2 set and run setup2. > > > hth > DDS > > > "gspotts" <gspotts@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:6B16CEB6-5C14-4576-9579-6053B5A70229@microsoft.com... > >I have three servers in a replication group 1 windows 2003 R2 & 2 windows > > 2003 sp2.
