WHS: How to use Media Sharing

Hi,

I'm sorry if this seem to be a "google-it!" question, but I have been

hunting high and low for an answer and found nothing so far. I would

preciate if somebody could tell me short how Media Sharing is supposed

to work in Windows Home Server.

- Can I stream music from WHS to a computer, using i.e. Windows Media

Player or Winamp on the client? In case, how?

- How do WHS populate the playlist?

RE: WHS: How to use Media Sharing

Hi Steinar

Check that you have enabled media streaming go to Settings > Media Sharing

and make sure the "On" radio button is selected. Click Apply.

Go to Setting for iTunes and click Enable and Apply.

Sorry this is obvious I know, but good to double check.

If you have iTunes, the WHS will scan for all applicable media (ie mp3) and

when you open iTunes on your PC you will see under SHARED in the left side of

the window "iTunes on <your WHS server name>.Just click on this link.

For Windows Media Play it is a little different. Go to Library > Music >

Folder > Add and then select \\Myserver\Music (or whatever name you have

used).

I don't know if this works with other media applications, but it should as

you are just using WHS as a remote file share in this scenario.

Does that help?
