I am running a wireless vista premium, and i have a home network of this vista laptop and two pc's running xp. The XP computers are fine, i do file sharing and printer sharing through them all the time, but this vista laptop won't connect to them, it finds the two xp desktops when i go into the "Network" option on the start menu, but when i double click on them to try and look at what options i have within them pcs, it doesnt load anything.

One last thing is that i can access the files on this vista laptop off my xp desktop, but i can't access the xp computers off my vista computer.

Any suggestions.. Thanks.

Hi dja,

You can see the Vista PC from the XP Desktops, and access the files there. You can see the XP Desktops from the Vista PC, but cannot access the files on those two. Is that right?

Did your network function correctly at any time, or are you just ironing out the faults now?

Do you run a firewall on your Desktops? If so it may be worth disabling them and re-attempting to connect.

What security do you have on your PC's?

Your shared printer(s) - is that connected to an XP desktop? If so, can you add it from your Vista PC?

Are your XP desktops up to date with Microsoft updates?

Sorry about all the questions, just trying to get a picture of what setup you have.

1) Correct.

2) My network has always worked perfectly until vista was involved.

3) Only Windows Firewall, i have tried disabling nothing happens.

4) All PC's (both vista and xp) have a-vast free anti virus.

5) The shared printer is connect on a XP yes, the other xp can access it, and the vista just finds "Printer", no name or anything and the vista only displays it, i can't do anything with it.

6) Yes every PC is fully up to date... SP3 and with auto updates running all the time.

Hope this helps.. thanks.
