RandyL Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Jay this is looking like a lost cause. I suggest you make every attempt to backup as much data as you can at this point. If you have an EIDE hard drive then slave it and pull off everything. If it's a SATA then hook it upvia a caddy or cable to copy your data off that way. As this is looking like a case of a lost cause hooking your drive to another system via any means might be your best option at this point. JayMina Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Well sorry I haven't checked in a while, I ended up having tonnes of other stuff to do ... I slaved it to another vista and all it did was go to the blue screen and crash dump. It's not working so what should I do / try now? Or is this like the end for my hard drive? Quote

JayMina Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Unfortunately all I can remember about it is that it's eMachines E4264, nvidia, intel core 2 duel that's about all I know. Sorry if that's little / no help. Oh and on a side note, I tried connecting up a master xp and it didn't blue screen but went into a boot loop instead. Quote

If your main concern is your data you should get the caddy recommended by RandyL and connect it to a working computer via the usb port on that machine. Your sole aim in doing this is to be able to explore the drive if you can and move the data onto discs or other removable storage. If it cannot be recognised at all the disc may be too far gone.
