Handy little tool -- to quote part of what another poster has said and reference it in your reply. But I can't figure out how to do it.

I tried copy and paste, but it appears as part of my own text. How do you do that and set it apart as a quote?

Hello again struggling.

I am going to tell you how to do a quote but you have to promise not to tell anyone.

Copy and paste just as you have done. When it gets in the post box highlight it and click on the little icon to the right of the envelope above the post box.

You will see the quote code appear in front and after the line.

When you preview the post or submit it, the quote box will be there.

Haha, love your sarcasm Barry!!

You can also do this [ quote ] (at the start of the bit you want to quote) and to close the quote just write [ / quote ] (with no spaces obviously).

Or you can press the Quote button located at the end of every person's post. Though Barry's and Carlos's procedure save time and have the same effect. :)

UH-OH ! I just got tripped up. I went to "practice" this in a reply on another thread. I highlighted and copied something he said there. When I pasted it I got "promise not to tell anyone".

Even though I had already pasted that phrase here, it carried over to the other thread and showed up -- instead of what I was trying to quote there.

Hmmm... any answer for that?

Yes Struggling. You hilighted but did not hit copy or it didn't register so the last entry in the notepad was the one you last copied.
