Hello to all,,

Been a while,,,

I have flipping well forgotton how to fix/repair/make-work the stupid adaware program.

I keep forgetting to come in here and ask;; It is now showing 45 days out of date, (due to

everytime I try to update, it does the "5% error thing". ) and then I go off and do something

else...

I have Asquared, and Spybot, and SpyBlaster and etc.... and now,, I really wonder if flipping

adaware is worth all the hassle? I run the others like I normally would,, and havent had a

problem... but,,, still have a soft-spot for adaware.

Is this whole thing to do with adaware forcing people to update the whole thing?

Anyway,,, was just going to bed, thought I'd do all my updates,, and remembered this.

Wait for Figgs to tune in, J, she has the 'dope' on this situation, I hope.

If not, I'm in trouble (again).

As far as I am concerned, the program does its job quite well, contrary to

opposing opinions. Just be sure to install it properly and update weekly, if

possible.

The "5% error thing" is usually indicative of a problem at their end and

resolved with patience and trying again later. Like Alias, I came to the

conclusion that Adaware was no longer worth "free" because of the

hassle....having to download things that are only a part of the $$$ version

being one. YMMV.

Heirloom, old and don't need any more hassles

.....I posted this yesterday, it didn't show

up. If this and the other shows, my

apologies.

Re: Adaware problem,,,, again

Hi webster.....

Yes, I hear what you are saying,, and it is now 6 or so days later, again..... and adaware is

Still giving me the same msg.... and it also says I am now 51 days out of date.

To be honest,,,, I have now switched to ASquared...... seems to be much more thorough too.

So, with the combination of 'Asquared, Spybot, SpyBlaster, and my Avirus program', I feel contrite.

I also now believe that, like sheep, we are being hearded to download adawares new version, and

hence the updates not happening for ppl like me and others who prefer the old one.

Oh well... such is life

Re: Adaware problem,,,, again

Hi Jeanette, FWIW - and Adaware is very slow on a WinMe PC, anyway! - it

might be worth uninstalling and then re-installing Adaware on your machine

(if you still want to use it).

It is still seems to be available (and authentic) here, but don't know how

long for. They may want to pull it if too many people find it <g> :-

http://download.lavasoft.com/personal/aawsepersonal.exe

As HL has already mentioned elsewhere, there were certainly issues on the

servers which would stall updates at about 5% into their download, but these

problems seem to have generally been overcome. The fact that you are still

(and continually) having difficulties when others appear not, suggests the

problem with the servers may be a red herring.

A fresh install of Adaware shouldn't take too long or be difficult - and

*may* even cure it!! Good luck.
