DSTM Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hi Guys,Sorry to be back so soon.My PC is going great, thanks to you. This is my Wife's Computer and thought I would check the temps. Near fell off the chair when I saw the printout. Mine TMPIN0 is running at 12C and TMP2 IS 22C in comparison. No matter what it is at 90C I pannicked. What is it anyway, without me sounding dumb? What should I do Guys? Thanks. http://i44.tinypic.com/9bi0lw.png Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Tootech Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I don't know what sensors you have that are reading 90C. Pretty sure they are not really sensors and your temp monitor sofware is interptreting the data incorrectly. Your CPU temps are the AMD Athlon x 2 temps - Cores 11 and 13 C, and TMPIN1 is probably your CPU temp of 37C. What software are you using to monitor the temps? It does seem that different monitoring software picks up different information, some correct, some not. If you are at all concerned you are best off entering the BIOS when you boot the PC and having a look at the Hardware Monitor section. That will give you the real temps, the ones you should be concerned with. Hope that makes sense. Quote
DSTM Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 I'm using SIW,Tootech. I will instal belarc and check in comparison. I will have a go at the Bios, but don't feel confident, without steps. Thanks for your help. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Diurno Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hello DSTM, To check the temperatures via the BIOS: You need to open the BIOS possibly by pressing Del. Go to the section called POWER and then just like Tootech said look for Hardware Monitor. You will find the CPU temperature and System Temperature or some settings similar to this. hope this helps Quote Intel Quad Core Q6600Asus Maximus Extreme2.5Gb DDR3 1066Mhz (2Gb OCZ Gold Edition & 512Mb Generic)ATI Radeon HD2600XT
BeeCeeBee Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Doug having had the same Bios fear in the past I have adopted a simple rule of thumb. Even if I make no changes and am just looking (as you will be ) I always exit without saving changes. That way, even if I had done something inadvertently it will bring things back to where they were. In this case Tootech is only suggesting you take a look - go forth and be not afraid!:) Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
DSTM Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Thanks DIURNO,and beeceebee,I managed to get into the Bios and found it under PC Health Status. It's 5am so bear with me Guys. Its set like this. CPU Smart Fan-------Disabled Shut down temp-----Disabled Current CPU Temp--40C CPU Fan speed ------3100 System Fan speed----Zero. Does all this look OK? As long as I can go into the Bios and dont make changes,I will go in again and learn a bit.I have more confidence now. Was always warned to keep out of the registry and Bios. Installed Everest and CPU was 30C, Gpu was 43C, and H/D was 28C. I would still like to know what the BMPIN's are that made me panic in the first place. Are they Ram slots? Thanks Guys.:) Edited January 6, 2009 by DSTM Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
BeeCeeBee Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Glad you have found a new comfort zone with the bios. No knowing what the TMPNs are I did a bit of research and they seem to be a sensor(s) that are essentially unused and tend to be the source of unusual and meaningless readings. They also seem to be a source of considerable unwarranted concern. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
