Embedding images?

i know how to embed images through code. however some sites like this one, it doesn't work. And yes i'm aware we have a button for embedding images. However i was wondering weather or not there is a way to embed by code on a site such as this, where it mearly highlights it.

how can i specifiy the size to make an image appear at when embedding from an external site:

Also is it possible to embbed part of an image but not the whole thing? if so, how?

Embedding - Part 3

 

much like my last question except for video...is it possible to embbed only a portion of a video. by portion i mean top corner or 50px by 50px square of the center, etc.
