Router problem

I have an Avent and have just loaded wireless router (netgear) but the system crashed straight away, the monitor is now blank, and the mouse and keyboard are not communicating, I have a recovery disk but it says BIOS must be set? how can I do this with no control over the computer?? the light is on, the fans are running and the CD draw opens & closes but thats about it!!! can anyone help?????????? Disconnect the router, reboot and tell us exactly what it says on the screen.
