Guest happydude Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I am relatively new to the server world and need to free up space on a Windows Server 2003 drive. I have found great suggestions from Newell White on moving the pagefile to another drive that has more space. This I will help but I was wondering how do you move the pagefile? Also, what are some basic things I should know before any attempt is made to re-partition a drive? Thank you very much for your help. -- Cheers, John

Before repartitioning the disk: 1. Think carefully about what you will put on each partition. Drive C: should have nothing other than the OS and the applications. 2. Create a full backup. 3. Restore the lot to a spare disk. 4. Test the spare disk. 5. Repartition the disk.
Guest Martin X. Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Re: Re-partitioning a drive If you want debugging information in the case of a server crash, the page file must be on the same parition as the OS. Also, moving the page file will require at least one reboot. -- Regards, Martin X.
