Creating Domain, AD Schema, Enterprise, &Forest wide (All-in-One)

Recommended Posts

I am running W2K3 SP2 (PDC FSMO) with AD, IIS6.0, SMTP, NNSTP, ASP, ASPNET,

etc. I am trying to install Exchange Server 2003. I need to create a user

that has privileges that are Domain, AD Schema, Enterprise, Forest wide

(All-in-One).

I logged in as the local Administrator on the W2K3/PDC FSMO. I created a

new user (bigdog) and added them to the local admin, domain admin, and

enterprise admin groups. Is this sufficient to make this user a Domain, AD

Schema, Enterprise, &Forest wide (All-in-One) User so that I can install

Exchange Server 2003. So far, this has not worked. What else do I need to

do????? Help???

Hello NuBee,

What is the error message you get when you start the installation?

It is not recommended to install Exchange 2003 on a DC. Better use a member

server:

http://blogs.brnets.com/michael/archive/2005/01/24/319.aspx

BTW, since windows 2000 you do not have a PDC/BDC concept. All DC's are the

same, just the FSMO roles are different.

Best regards

The error message says: (1) the forest prep hasn't finished (and boy it goes

on and on and on) or (2) I do not have sufficient rights to do this.

Please reply to your existing thread and not create a whole new thread

with your reply. As you can see, nobody knows what you are talking

about since we just have your message above with no idea what you were

responding to.

Besides, now you have two separate threads which will quickly move in

two different directions.....

Hello NoConsequence,

Don't know about the rest of your problem that NoConsequence mean. Would

be nice if you also post it here or give the Subject from it that we can

follow the story.

Check the logfile from the adprep for additional information and also check

that the account you use, is member of the schema admins. Also the adprep

command has to be run on the schema master.

Best regards
