hi

we have installed win 2k3 sp2 as ADS, DNS, DHCP on the same server machine.

we found one repeated error is created regularly by DHCP Service in event

viewer stated as:

Event ID:1059 & the error message as:

"The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization."

We have noticed the dhcp mmc, the dhcp address lease icon shown as like

"system monitor & over on that ink pen tip" mark. but the server is leased

addresses normally.

need solution to solve without any reinstall any components.

help me out.

Re: DHCP Service failure

In many cases, this is DNS issue. I would use dcdiag to check any errors

first. or check this search result for troubleshooting.

Event ID 1059also running DHCP. when ever i restart DC i always recived this

error Event Type: Error Event Source: DhcpServer Event Category: None Event

ID: 1059 ...

Re: DHCP Service failure

Hi Robert

Im finally found it in ms technet, but there is no clear documentation is

available to resolve this issue. You can find it in "Other console icons"

link & the 8th icon descriptions.

The link is for your reference:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/f2013b82-248c-4ea4-a0e5-6e72b219163d1033.mspx?mfr=true

Kindly go thru the same. i ran dcdiag in my server it shows the root hint

server records. the root hint server is necessary in all dns server? kindly

clarify.

Advance Thanks,

Rajaguru
