Guest Jane Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Hi all, We always put page file in the seperate partition of the same disk as OS C. Like: C: OS E: Page file. If we put the pagefile in the OS (big partition), will it hurt performance? Is it better to put page file in the seperate partition of the same disk as OS C than to put page file in the OS? Which way is better? Thank you.
Guest SBS Rocker Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Re: need your advice on page file Good practice to keep your pagefile on a different volume than the OS. Guest Mathieu CHATEAU Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Re: need your advice on page file Hello, the best in on a different controller than the system partition, to get a maximum of I/O. Not having a pagefile on the system volume prevent having memory dump, but most server won't have BSOD :) Else you can keep a very small pagefile on the boot volume, just to be able to have a memory dump -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU English blog: http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com French blog: http://www.lotp.fr "Jane" <Jane@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C438142F-5FB3-4A62-BACB-4C558C386D30@microsoft.com... > Hi all, > > We always put page file in the seperate partition of the same disk as OS > C. > Like: C: OS E: Page file. Guest John John Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Re: need your advice on page file If you only have one disk it is best to place the pagefile on the same partition as the operating system. Do not put the pagefile on a disk that is in a slaved relation to the operating system or on a data disk that is heavily used. For best performance the pagefige should be placed on a separate disk on a separate controller.
