Hiya guys,

i was typing away on my laptop on another forum when all of a sudden i could no longer type. It just stopped mid sentence. Everything seems fine apart from that (which is pretty important). I thought maybe it was malware so i did all the scans you guys usually recommend but they come up clean. So i am just baffled as to why it would just stop allowing me to type? Clearly im typing this on my other computer. ;)

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated thanks. :D

Hello Ony. Can you type on the other Forum on your computer? If yes, then I hazard a guess that the keyboard connection is loose or worse still, its dead.

Hiya Goku, thanks for the reply,

i cant type anything anywhere not even onto wordpad. Seems like no keys work. If it is dead as you say...is it fixable?.....many thanks.

Is this the lappy you bought just recently Ony?

If no key works at all then it seems to me that the ribbon connecting it to the board has come loose, if it is still under guarantee then take it back love and get em to fix it.

I don't really want to advise on prising the keyboard to have a look your self just yet.

Hiya Bob,

many thanks for your reply. No it's not my new laptop, it's my older Dell one that was still working ok up until that point. Thing is Bob, although it is considered old now and although i was fortunate to get another laptop just in time...if it is possible to repair and it wont cost the earth then id like to get it fixed. :)

Well I wouldn't suggest you delve into it yourself Fee love but rather take it to a reputable PC repair shop (not PC World in my opinion) and ask him for a free quote.

Depending how old it is, how much hammer you've given it over the years and if the parts are still available could be anyone's guess as to whether it's worth fixing love.
