EU PSU in the UK

I purchased a Xilence Gamers 800w PSU for my self-build from a UK company (aria) and didn't even think to check the voltage spec. Turns out it is a 230v power supply with an EU connection. Rather than go through the hassle of getting it exchanged can i just plug a standard UK 3-pin lead into it and use as normal without any side effects?

Yes that should be fine, if you swap the current EU lead for a UK lead then it should work fine, no problems

Thanks Dirtypolo, also i notice you are running the Q6600 with a hefty overclock. I am putting the same processor in this build and in a flurry of enthusiastic optimism ordered an Asus Maximus Extreme mobo & a Zalman CNPS9700 with the intention of overclocking it. Now i'm actually about to build the bleeding thing i've kinda got cold feet and "The Fear" about attempting an OC without any experience and limited PC knowledge. At the same time it seems pointless having bought that kit only to back-out!!! So i am in a dilemma, any advice you can give me on modesstly OCing that chip as a beginner?

Sure, if you want to carry on this issue then create a new thread in the PC building section, but as a quick reply I can say;

 

-Make sure you have good air circulation in your Case.

 

-That you have a good cooling fan, as 3.3GHz is about the maximum you can OC this processor with air cooling.

 

Your mobo seems perfectly capable of it as does your PSU so no need to worry, but as I said, create a new thread in PC Building if you want more details etc.

Just one thing, check if it has one of those dual voltage sliders on that PSU and that it is set to 240 volts.
