Why buy? There are several free ones. For example: Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) <http://dban.sourceforge.net/> -- Nah-ah. I'm staying out of this. ... Now, here's my opinion. Guest Paradoxdb3 Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Re: Wipe the Hard drive? I was also going to suggest formatting. How about taking a very powerful magnet to the hard drive? Although that may dammage the workings of it. Guest Paradoxdb3 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Re: Wipe the Hard drive? Has anyone heard of Restore? It's freeware. You can recover permanently deleted files, but it also has a function which wipes all sectors clean making any info next to impossible to recover. Guest Paradoxdb3 Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Re: Wipe the Hard drive? Yeah, Restoration...that's what I meant! I like it. I use it every once in a while to permanently delete all deleted files, so they cannot be recovered. Then, when I look for deleted files, it finds nothing. It does not affect existing files! But I've wondered if there's a software out there that can even restore the files that Restoration deletes? Because in the readme file or in the help files somewhere, I remember reading that Restoration has the ability to delete all deleted files so that there is very little chance of them being recovered. I thought that was it. It's a good one. Another way to permanently delete the deleted files is to do a Defrag.
