Guest TMulvany Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 i just installed this service pack 2 for win2k3 r2 and i don't know if this is the reason or something else but i now have this strange playback problem on windows media player 10 (which is also weird, cause i thought sp2 installed wmp 11). i am trying to view a microsoft webcast (.mwv file) and it sound HORRIBLE (like its in a tunnel, echoing, etc.). any ideas? also, i tried uninstalling sp2 but it keeps saying it can't find a file (event log shows error id=4375 spmsg.dll). i also tried reinstalling and it succeeded but still wmv playback problems and uninstall does not work. anyway to 'force' an sp2 uninstall with some little known utility? thanks group.

Guest TMulvany Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Re: windows server 2003 r2 sp2 also went to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/316992 to playback different file formats and all but .wmv sounded fine. Guest Ola Hallengren Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Re: windows server 2003 r2 sp2 Hello! I have exactly the same problem on my laptop with Windows 2003 SP2. (It's not the R2 edition.) All sounds but wmv (webcasts) work fine. Wmv has worked fine before. I don't know what changed that made it stop working. Have you found out about anything? Best regards Ola Hallengren "TMulvany" wrote: > also went to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/316992 to playback > different file formats and all but .wmv sounded fine. > > "seth" wrote: > > > does the webcast work on another machine? > > wmp 11 is for xp/vista only > > > > "TMulvany" <TMulvany@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > news:3A3745F2-390E-45DC-98A9-D977149537B3@microsoft.com... > > >i just installed this service pack 2 for win2k3 r2 and i don't know if this > > > is the reason or something else but i now have this strange playback > > > problem > > > on windows media player 10 (which is also weird, cause i thought sp2 > > > installed wmp 11). > > > i am trying to view a microsoft webcast (.mwv file) and it sound HORRIBLE > > > (like its in a tunnel, echoing, etc.). > > > any ideas? > > > also, i tried uninstalling sp2 but it keeps saying it can't find a file > > > (event log shows error id=4375 spmsg.dll). i also tried reinstalling and > > > it > > > succeeded but still wmv playback problems and uninstall does not work. > > > anyway > > > to 'force' an sp2 uninstall with some little known utility? > > > thanks group. > > > >
