Guest Philip Dawson Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 our windows server 2003 64 bit server seems to have lost its CDROM drivers, windows device manager has a yellow q mark over the devices (a DVD ROM and a DVD RW, both IDE) motherboard IDE drivers are ok. On following windows suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers are copied but the error "drivers are corrupt or missing" follows. I disconnected the DVD RW but no joy with just the DVD ROM. Indesperation I installed an old Lite On CDROM, same error. There appear to be no updated drivers on microsofts or the manufacturers websites. I tried several of the generic signed CDROM drivers in the windows operating system with the same result. Our workaround is to use installation files accross the ntwork with shared folders and other optical drives, but this is quite annoying for a server not be able to use an optical drive. Does anyone have any ideas? Would a SATA or USB drive work on this OS? I dont want to go through the hassle of reinstalling the operating system as 32 bit. The 64 bit OS is certainly fast, but the problem of drivers has been awful. At least most printer manufacturers seem to have caught up with drivers.
