Guest Jet Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Windows Server 2003 - How do I prevent users from changing the printer setting from black and white to color? I need to assign users print permissions on the server. They can not change any of the settings on the printer properties page but they do have the ability to click on Printing Preferences when using Word or Excel and change from black and white to color.
Guest abckid Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 RE: Print Server Settings Hi, You just have to give Permission in the Security Tab of the Printer as - Print - Allow. If there are other permissions given like Manage Printers etc. then remove it. This is sufficient for users to print as well to modify the printing preferences while printing. abc. Guest Jet Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 RE: Print Server Settings Hi, The only permission they have is "Print". However, users still have the ability to change printing preferences while printing. I would like to prevent them from changing from black and white to color. How do I accomplish this but I would like to allow user to change other settings in Printing Preferences other then the color settings. Guest abckid Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 RE: Print Server Settings Hello Check if the users who can change belong to any Administrative or Power Users Group. If they are member of any of these groups, then they will have full rights. abc. "Jet" wrote: > Hi, > > The only permission they have is "Print".
