hi, i have a d- link router, im running a lap top and a x box wirelessly, every so often i have to unplug the router or do a restart from my lap top, this can be 2 or 3 times a day, im connected via talk talk, any ideas please.

I suspect that you might be reinitializing your modem. Although this is normal from time to time if you have to do it that often it might be time to replace it.

 

This is not my area so check back to see what others have to offer.

D-Link routers are a NIGHTMARE even ones that are correctly setup - I had 3 at one point one after another as they were all cabbaged - replaced them with a NETGEAR and not looked back since

 

Have you been into the routers settings and checked that everything is configured correctly?

thanks guys for your reponses, the router is a couple of years old so perhaps its time for a change, i will check the settings though, thanks again.

Just another avenue of thought......

 

Is it your internet connection you are losing? rather than the wireless link.

 

If so, I'd be more inclined to think that there is some kind of fault with your broadband connection.

 

As you are on Talktalk you wil be ADSL. Check that you have all your phone devices filtered, including any Sky equipment. If you can, disconnect any/all phone extension cables for a few hours to see if that makes a difference.
