Hi,

I Know there is a problem with redirection of a network printer with

TS 2000 but there isa workaround.

What about TS 2003? Same problem or should it work by default.

thx

Hi,

Assuming you have a TS compatible driver or can map to

a driver that came with windows then yes, network

printers can be redirected under 2000 and 2003 TS.

The key thing is to use a newer version of the Remote

Desktop Client. I recommend the version that ships

with 2003. It is located on the 2003 server's hard drive

in the following location:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\clients\tsclient\win32\msrdpcli.msi

As an alternative you can use the Remote Desktop Client

version that ships with Windows XP if you make the

following registry change for each user:

Printers That Use Ports That Do Not Begin With COM,

LPT, or USB Are Not Redirected in a Remote Desktop

or Terminal Services Session

Ok thanks.

Two questions:

1. what do you mean bu 'can map to driver'

2. can I run the RDC that ships with 2003 on a windows 2000

Re: network printer redirection in TS 2003

1. You can tell the server which printer driver to use for

a particular client printer driver name. Instructions for

this are here (they are valid for 2003 as well):

Windows 2000 Terminal Services server logs events 1111, 1105, and 1106

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239088

2. Yes.
