Hi peeps newbie with a question:confused:

I have recently brought a LCD Tv with built in Pc connectivity via "VGA" The tv Make & Model is a ("LG 19LG3000") just incase that helps... I have been told by a friend (who as far as i no doesn't actually know a lot about pc and other stuff) That if you use a Tv such as the one i have as a pc screen reguallary it will effect then life span of the tv and cause the screen to fail prematurely....

I have brought this tv and my plan was to use it as my main computer screen and also my tv screen when i not on computer which isnt very often but now i am worried about damaging it and don't want to have wasted my money on it.... does anyone no if what i have been told is true in anyway???

sorry if this is a stupid question and has already been asked like i said i a newb...

cheers

Tom

Hey Tom,

According to some sources, the answer is no, it will not cause your TV's lifespan to decrease,

aslong as you set your settings on the PC for the correct refresh rate

:)

Your friend maybe referring to a Plasma TV as they do have a lifetime that can be altered by usage

Also make sure that you have the PC options so that the screen is NOT permanently on as it can cause the image to 'burn' onto the screen most TV's do this themselves now to stop it happening, but its better to check, your friend is talking nonsense as 90% of people now use LCD in one form or another - not many people have the huge CRT monitors now :)

Hi Tom

Welcome to FPCH

Here are several of the features listed in that link;

Connectivity: 2 HDMI, 2 SCART (1Full), Component(Y,Pb,Pr) + Audio, AV In, S-Video, PC Input, Composite, Headphone

If the TV wasn't able to be used as a monitor then they would not list it.

Tell your friend to take up Stamp collecting or something as what he knows about computers would probably fit on the back of one.
