Guest Arya Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Hi, I've upgraded a HP Server with an internal RAM of 256MB and 3GB installed RAM, To 8GB, But Windows Server 2003 Enterprise doesn't recognize this upgrade. Anybody have any experience?

Guest Raiden Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Re: RAM Upgrade Issue I think you need the 64-bit version to recognize that much RAM. Guest D Riberdy Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Re: RAM Upgrade Issue If it is Enterprise it should be able to see 8GB. If you see 8GB in the bios or bootup screen and only like 3.96MB in windows, you might have to put /PAE at the end of your default choice in the boot.ini. i.e. multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows 2003 w/ 8GB" /PAE "Raiden" wrote: > I think you need the 64-bit version to recognize that much RAM. > > "Justin Rich" <jrich523@yahoo.spam.com> wrote in message > news:%23Zoebx7GIHA.4684@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > umm im not sure what you mean by 256 internal, but... does the bios > > display the correct amount of memory? > > > > "Arya" <Arya@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > news:E6BF6ACC-F286-4320-9158-AFC048BA9467@microsoft.com... > >> Hi, > >> > >> I've upgraded a HP Server with an internal RAM of 256MB and 3GB installed > >> RAM, To 8GB, But Windows Server 2003 Enterprise doesn't recognize this > >> upgrade. > >> Anybody have any experience? > > > > >
Guest John Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Re: RAM Upgrade Issue What's an "internal RAM"? Is your OS 64 bit or 32 bit?
