Guest Mark Bowles Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I have a new client that currently has a 4 location network each with its own Windows 2000 server and each server acting as a domain controller. The server at the local location is the PDC and the exchange server running Exchange 2003. The project is to replace the local Windows 2000 Server / Exchange 2003 with a new server running 2003, Install the existing copy of Exchange 2003 and forklift the Exchange 2003 store to the new server. I have done this with SBS using swing and am thinking of about the same thing. What would you recommend. Thanks Mark
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Re: Replace PDC with Windows 2003 Server Hello Mark, Just to clarify, single forest, single domain, 4 sites? Main site has all FSMO roles and the 3 other sites are additional dc's? Main site should be changed from 2000 to 2003, the 3 other will keep 2000? Check out this site: http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2005/11/19/What-information-is-available-when-UPGRADING-from-W2K_2F00_E2K-to-W2K3-_2800_R2_29002F00_E2K3_3F00_.aspx Since windows 2000 you have no PDC/BDC concept anymore, it depends on the 5 FSMO roles, the dc's are all the same.
