squeak Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I'm currently using Cubase SX3 on windows XP Pro, with 3GB Ram, and E-MU 0404 Soundcard. There is hardly anything else installed on the PC, as I have just re-installed windows again, to correct a few problems. Cubase will open & operate fine, but when I save a project and try to re-open it again, Cubase will just freeze, and I get the ''Cubase is not responding' error. Has anyone else had this and to you know how to rectify it? After Cubase shuts down from the error, I check the error and get this : szAppName : Cubasesx3.exe szAppVer : 3.1.1.944 szModName : hungapp szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 C:\DOCUME~1\CHRISM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc270.dir00\Cubasesx3.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\CHRISM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc270.dir00\appcompat.txt HELP!!!!
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Have you tried uninstalling it and any remnants completely and then reinstalling it Squeak?
squeak Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) Yeah, I re-installed windows xp pro, and now cubase is the only program on the PC, I really cannot understand it. Do you understand this error, or know even slightly what it means? : szAppName : Cubasesx3.exe szAppVer : 3.1.1.944 szModName : hungapp szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 C:\DOCUME~1\CHRISM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc270.dir00\C ubasesx3.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\CHRISM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc270.dir00\a ppcompat.txt Edited January 21, 2009 by squeak
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 No I meant did you uninstall and reinstall the music software? What kind of XP install did you do, a brand new install ie; formatting the hard drive etc or a repair install? You will have had to reinstall the music software on both counts anyway. It may well be that the music .exe file is damaged in some way.
squeak Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 I installed both xp and cubase (full reinstall of both) Maybe I should try a different version of the software?
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Apparently version 5 exists. Studica.com - Student Software Discounts, academic software at reduced prices up to 80% off retail.
squeak Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Is their any way I could repair the .exe ??
Guest Wolfeymole Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 It's not often we recommend people go to other forums, but I do feel this is a rather specialised subject so it may pay you to ask here Squeak. Cubase.net .:::. Index
squeak Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Thanks for the link, I'm going to downgrade to version 2, as my friend uses this and has no problems..
RandyL Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I don't see a version 2 or a way to downgrade. If you paid for version 5 that is what you have. squeak Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 I have a friend with version 2, I am going to try his copy before buying version 4. I have no need for version 5 yet, as it is only full of extras that are not necessary to me.
RandyL Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I still don't understand. Version 4 or 5 is what is being offered for sale. They are not selling any older versions. If there is a version 2 it can not be purchased and is not supported. If it's liscensed to your friend you can not use it. Is this shareware and if so can you provide us with the link? Either way 2 is not offered or supported. At no point in your original post did you suggest that this was not a purchased program. As such I'm wondering why you have not contacted them for support. Have you contacted them and if not why? We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. squeak Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 I am using a cracked version (h20), until my legit version of cubase 4 comes from steinberg, I would like to add that this is already paid for, and have got it through educational discount (I'm on a electronic Music Production course).
BeeCeeBee Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Well that accounts for about everything. You downloaded the program or got it from a dodgy disk and it all looked good. The you applied the crack and everything went pear shaped from there. Dump the software and clean up your pc using the suggestions contained in your other thread otherwise we cannot help you.
