Guest Blacksheep Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 We have a W2k3 sp2 Dell 2850 server we are using for file share and roaming profiles. It is running an Intel Pro 1000 MT NIC. After being online for several hours the network traffic thru the NIC slows down to about 1%. Removing the cable from the NIC and Re-inserting it restores the performance of the server. We have changed the cabling from the NIC to the Cisco Catalyst Switch, Changed Ports and still the same issue. Yesterday the problem would come back within an hour. I changed the NIC settings to all for Jumbo Frames to alleviate the load on the server and increase throughput. The server was fine all day until we came in this morning and the same problem. Fixed by pulling the cable. We have the latest driver from Dell for the NIC and Dell has no idea what is happening. BTW, this server has 2 NIC same type and it happens with both. Anyone have any ideas. TIA Blacksheep
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Re: Network Slow down after several hours Hello Blacksheep, I think it will have to do with switch configuration, not with the client. We have also cisco switches and the server NIC's are all just default configured for 1000 and teamed. If we have problems at the beginning it was alsways a switch configuration problem. Guest Henrik Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Re: Network Slow down after several hours as Meinolf Weber says, it's probably the switch which is causing the problem. Have you checked which speed it's on the NIC and the port that connects the server and the switch? Set the port in the switch and the NIC to the same speed if they ain't configured with the same speed. -- Henrik MCSE - Windows Server 2003 + MCP "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello Blacksheep, > > I think it will have to do with switch configuration, not with the client. > We have also cisco switches and the server NIC's are all just default configured > for 1000 and teamed.
