extremely long logon time for one particular user

Recommended Posts

Guest Alan Truism

I have a problem with one particular user, in which whenever he tries

to logon it takes around 20 minutes for the computer to complete the

logon state. This seems to carry over to whatever workstation that

particular user is using. If anyone else logs on to their workstation

it takes the normal amount of time.

It seems to hang quite a long time on the "applying personal settings"

part of the logon process.

Then I get the following errors in the event log for that particular

workstation.

-

==

Event Type: Error

Does anyone have any particular suggestions?

Hello Alan,

If you see the errors, they say that there are some problems with the network

connections. How is your network setup, how many DC's and how are they located?

Also check DNS configuration on the workstation, the NIC should only point

to your internal DNS server, nothing else.

Best regards

RE: extremely long logon time for one particular user

I"ve had the same issue and nothing seemed to work for me. I had to download

the users email to a pst file, deleted the account, recreated it, then moved

everything back into the persons mailbox.

I've seen those suggestions. The thing is that this problem occurs no

matter what workstation the user logs on to. If another user logs on

to the very same computer (with the exact same network settings) then

they are able to log on just fine.

Re: extremely long logon time for one particular user

I tried that too, but that didn't seem to fix the problem either. What

I've done, which seems to work, it to remove the home directory

mapping from the persons profile in Active Directory.

As long as the user's account isn't setup with a default home

directory mapping the person can logon just fine.

Re: extremely long logon time for one particular user

If I remove the home directory mapping from their profile they can log

on just as fast as anyone else.
