Terminal Clients Can't Print to Network

Recommended Posts

I'm running a Server 2003 network with a Server 2003 DC and a separate Server

2003 Terminal Server. I recently added a network printer to the network -

an HP LG P2015dn. I can print to the printer from the DC without a problem.

I can print to the printer from the TS without a problem when logged in to

the terminal or if logged in through remote desktop as administrator.

Regular terminal clients, however, can't print. When you click print the

print menu pops up and the correct printer is displayed. When one clicks

"Print" nothing happens and the process eventually times out.

I've checked group policy on this issue - I've allowed data redirection and

lpt port redirection. Where should I try next? Thanks so much for your help.

Re: Terminal Clients Can't Print to Network

That's a pretty common symptom of a 3rd party printer driver which

is not TS compatible.

I assume that you mean a HP LJ P2015dn, correct (not LG)?

Do you use a native Windows driver for this printer, or did you

install a driver from HP? If you use an HP driver, have you checked

if it is the version of the driver they recommend: 60.063.461.42?

Can normal users print to the printer directly from their

workstation, outside a TS session?

As far as I can tell, yes. I've logged-in to the terminal server under

several different passwords and it works. When I log-on with a test password

from a typical user, it doesn't work.

That leaves the driver, then.
