Guest Dale Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Hi, I just restored a desktop from an image made of that machine about 2 months ago. the restore went fine but when I try to log in the users account I get the " Can't find Domain Controller" error. The DC is definitely there and this desktop happens to be plugged into the same switch the DC is in. DNS is functioning and other machines in the network can communicate perfectly with the DC. Any ideas what could be causing this and how can I fix it? Thanks Dale
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Re: Restored from image Can't find DC Hello Dale, What operating system do your use on the server 2000 or 2003 with which SP? Imaging and domain computer is not a good idea because if it goes over the tombstone lifetime (the date from the image), i think AD can not work with it. Make the machine again a workgroup member and rejoin it. Guest Dale Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Re: Restored from image Can't find DC I use 2003 SP1 and was hoping to get around the unjoin rejoin part. Besides I don't think I can unjoin it correctly since it can't find the DC. Any thoughts on perhaps a workaround or someway to get it to log on Thnaks for your quick reply Dale "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello Dale, > > What operating system do your use on the server 2000 or 2003 with which SP? > Imaging and domain computer is not a good idea because if it goes over the > tombstone lifetime (the date from the image), i think AD can not work with > it. Guest Meinolf Weber Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Re: Restored from image Can't find DC Hello Dale, Unjoin and rejoin have no influence on the software/data on the computer, why not doing it? Check that the ipconfiguration to the domain is correct, try to ping the server via ip address and servername.
