Permission Issue? Icons Denied in Terminal Services

[Guest KWME]

I was working on my server this afternoon trying to get a printer to work on

Terminal Services.

 

I must have changed something, and I can't remember what. When users log-on

to the terminal server they get the following message when clicking on almost

all of the icons on the desktop and start menu "Windows cannot access the

specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate

permissions to access the item." One weird thing is that the internet

explorer icon works perfectly.

 

I've checked and rechecked the share permissions and can't find a problem.

I rebuilt the mandatory profile. I've checked the group policy and can't

find a problem. I'm at wits end. Please help

Maybe you have changed your Intranet / Trusted zones?

I tried the solution you suggested and I continued to get the same error

messages. One additonal fact is that I get the following error upon log-on:

 

System error 1314 has occurred.

A required privilege is not held by the client.

System error 85 has occurred.

The local device name is already in use.

The command completed successfully.

System error 67 has occurred.

The network name cannot be found.

And I assume that these icons are shortcuts to applications on a

shared network drive, correct?

Is the drive mapped on the TS? Or is that done in a login script?

Thanks for your willingness to help Vera. I've steered around the problem

by using a mandatory profile on the terminal server to assign iconts to the

users. This is working fine for the software that is located on the Terminal

Server, but isn't working for a key program that is running on the server.

I've tested several senarios - users connecting to the network share where

the program is located and mapping the network share to the terminal server

but both give me the same message about missiong permissions. Where are the

key places that I should be looking to set permissions? I've checked and

rechecked both share and NTFS permissions and just can't find a

problem...unless I'm missing something.

That error message comes definitively from IEES.

Have you added the fileserver to the local intranet sites? Can you

confirm that it is still listed there, and that "Launching

applications and unsafe files" for your Local Intranet zone is

enabled?
