Have you always been with Orange for your internet?

Has it ever worked properly when you were with them?

I have always been with Orange..from day one actually...1999 when it was Freeserve !!!! over the years I have had hiccoughs like anyone else, but today I have had no problems .....very odd indeed:confused:

If there are days that everything is fine, there is probably little good that can be done by checking your settings etc. It appears that your problem may be related to some hardware failing (unless the fault lies with Orange or your phone line.)

You did not tell us what kind of service you are using. (Is it broadband, dialup etc.) And if it is broadband what kind of connection. Wireless or wired? If you are not sure of the nature of your broadband a description of the physical set up will do.

Do you have an Orange Livebox to connect to the internet?

Try rebooting it when you lose your connection.

Let us know if you can then get connected.

Also, we do need to know how you connect.

Do you use wireless?

I use ADSL Modem for getting connected, when I get disconnected I immediately go my Orange logo on my desk top and dial up again,I usually get connected straight away:o

Ok Lotti it seems to me that what you have here is either a faulty landline and needs to be checked by BT or the Orange connection is failing.

If it was simply an Email thing one might suggest that your POP3 settings were were wrong but this appears not to be the case as you are losing Internet connectivity also.

Contact both BT and Orange asap.

P.S. You have Broadband by the way and not an old dial up connection.

Just a quick note,

It maybe just your connection to Orange, as other Orange broadband users have also reported that it does indeed disconnect from time to time, sometimes quite often.

If this is the case, then the only step on from that is to change Internet Service Providers to a different company.

I too, used to be with Orange and also had these problems where my internet would disconnect randomly, just viewing webpages or doing small things. So I decided to change to a different provider and haven't looked back since :D

Back in the day, Freeserve used to be a very good service, but since changing to Orange, in some people's minds, including my own, their rating for service has been degraded.

Hi Lottie,

As I said in the CK you are bound to find someone familiar with Orange and Matt (DirtPolo) is a pretty bright guy. Allowing Orange remote access will accomplish nothing.

Just check with BT and make sure there is no problem with your telephone line.

If you want recommendations for an alternative ISP just ask and you will get them.

:o Thanks for the compliment, it is appreciated by all!!

Phone line faults are a pain because it is usually the last thing checked. If it is fixed it should sort your problems.

Okay, glad to hear it's sorted :)

I just gave that point as it has been the cause of many problems around, not neccessarily yours, and well, obviously not yours as it's now done! :)
