Hi bayne;

Unfortunately we are not in a position to analyze hijackthis logs at this time.

Please endeavor to ascertain what mode you can boot into.

There is normal mode and the 3 safemode options. Safemode, Safemode with networking and safemode with command prompt.

These are the only options so it has to be one of those.

Exactly how far does Windows boot in normal mode before you get the bsod?

Do you get to the Windows logon?

Does it happen after you choose the User logon?

I'm sorry i posted this in the vista section by the way. my other computer has vista and i wasn't thinking. Anyway it actually lets me log in and everything. I see my background and i am actually able to get on the internet for like 2 minutes or so. it seems that all of the programs are still trying to start up when it happens. This is all in regular mode

In all of the safe modes, i get the bsod and restart before the list of programs in DOS finishes so i never actually get to windows.

The only mode that works for the computer in the "Directory Services Restore" mode. i guess i could just use this but evertime i do it i have to re install my mouse drivers...it's kinda annoying lol. Any further help would still be appreciated.

Hi as Randy said we are not able to do a proper analysis of a HJT log at the moment, however I do see in the running processes you have both the Norton antivirus and personal firewall, but also Avira anti-virus both running.This in itself may be the cause of your problem as two anti-virus programs running at once will conflict, especially so in this case, as Norton is famouse for heavy conflicts with other anti-virus software.

I personally would ask you to remove Norton and use the Avira. Use this tool to remove Norton-- Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

Then look at our recomendations for security software regarding a good firewall, plus the installation of other anti-malware products, here-

You appear to have Ares installed on your computer, a known p2p and torrent program.

Please take a little time to review the rules here

http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/introductions/5272-rules.html

Rules 3 and 4 are specific to your PC, and due to the fact that at this time you have broken those rules, no help can be offered.

If you need help removing p2p and torrent programs from your PC, please start a new thread and we wil be glad to help
