Microsoft has identified a problem with DFS clients in KB915377.

MUP is utilized to resolve and direct UNC paths, by default MUP uses

DFS as

it's first search path before looking at any other redirector.

Problems with

DFS will cause a search to hang.

The hotfix for this has no effect (they replaced the Ntlanman.dll with

a

newer version)

I've since reverted to the original Ntlanman.dll (un-installed the

hotfix

KB915377) and added the following key to the registry until Microsoft

can

fix the root cause:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Mup]

"DisableDFS"=dword:00000001

After rebooting, UNC path resolutions were back to normal speeds.
